What exactly is 'wrought iron'?

'Wrought iron' is an older term for hand-crafted soft iron. Today, the term is applied more loosely to describe the appearance of hand-crafted metal; our doors are made with hardened steel to look like custom wrought iron work, with all the security benefits of a steel door.

Can the wrought iron designs be customized?

We can make modifications to existing designs, or craft a door to your exact specifications. Talk to our design consultants any time, they can help you match a door to your home's decor.

What are some of the available options?

Custom wrought iron designs, build-outs, gates, mail slots, sidelites, pet access doors, transom windows, tinted glass, self-storing glass panels, coloured finishes, keyed-alike locks, stainless or brass locks, etc...

Are these doors rustproof?

Yes. The finish is a waterproof baked-on polyester powder coating. Water can't penetrate, and rust can't get to the metal. It's also very smooth, which makes it easy to clean.

Can you accommodate non-standard door sizes?

Yes, we can accommodate any non-standard sizes without a problem. Standard door widths are 30, 32, 34 and 36 inches (76, 81, 86, 91.5 cm). Standard heights are 78-85 inches (198-216 cm).

How easy is it to change from glass to screen?

Interchanging is easily done with our unique glass retention clips. Changing from screen to glass provides you with a weather-tight seal.

Can I purchase a wrought iron gate (no glass or screen)?

Definitely yes!

These steel doors look expensive... how much do they cost?

Yes, these are certainly not run-of-the-mill aluminum doors! Our highest quality standards & custom all-welded steel construction means prices typically range from $985 to $1500, depending on the door design & your options. Installation is not included, because it varies depending on the complexity of the job. It's best to give us a call or send us a quote request to get the best idea of the cost for your particular build.

Do you offer a warranty on the doors & locks?

Yes, we offer a limited lifetime warranty on all of our products. We've served thousands of satisfied Canadian homeowners since 1986.

Are these doors more difficult to swing open?

Not at all. Our super-strong hinges accommodate their weight and make your door as easy to open a light aluminum screen door.

If I have multiple doors can I get one key to open all of them?

Yes. They can also be keyed to match existing doors in your home.

Who does the installation?

Our professional installers have many years of experience. Installation takes only about two hours.

Can I install the door myself?

This is not recommended - our professional installers will make sure the door is secure. We cannot warranty doors installed by customers.

Can I get a door with self-storing glass?

Yes, we have a line of glass screen combo self-storing doors.

Can your door be the "only" door as opposed to being the outer door?

Our doors work best in conjunction with an inside door, using them "stand-alone" is not recommended.

Is tinted glass available?

Yes. Tinted glass can provide added privacy & can cut down on cooling costs in summer.
